The motorhome is parked at Shady Acres Mobile Home and RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. I expect to be here a while hiding out from the cold, wet weather. Average temperatures in January are high 69.6, low 47.6. In February, high 73.8, low 50.1. As nice as Yuma is, I wouldn’t want to be here in August.  🙂

Back in 2013, my friend Randy and I took a walk south along the river on the Arizona side. Here are some of the photos that I took…

Once a mile wide this once mighty river has been tamed by man. Interstate Highway 8 passes overhead…

 

 

Lots of tall brush along the river provides a living place for lots of homeless people…

 

 

We got invited into a camp of a 36-year-old man, his wife and small dog…

Heading back north we could see old Fort Yuma on the hill in Arizona…

 

 

The first bridge is part of the original Coast-to-Coast Highway. The rear bridge is for the railroad. Just past the bridges on the right is the location of the old Yuma Territorial Prison…
