2004 Central America trip…
This trip ended up being 343 days and 16,000+ miles through the back-country of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. 11 rigs started the trip, within a week we broke into three smaller groups for ease of traveling. Only myself and one other rig went the full, pre-planned route. All the others dropped out for various reasons. All returned safely to the United States. I’m planning to show these photos, more or less, 10 a day, whenever I’m not doing something else deserving a blog entry. FINALLY, it must be remembered these photos are prior to my switching to digital in 2006. The films were developed during our trip and the lack of quality control sometimes is plainly evident.

We were constantly engaged by children trying to sell us something…
We got on the island “chicken” bus for a ride. It proved to be very dusty, hot and crowded with people and animals. It seemed liked we stopped about every 100 feet. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to go about ten miles over a hilly, bumpy, dusty, dirt road with about 100 stops to pickup or discharge passengers. You should have seen the “cargo” people brought aboard! Just about anything you could imagine, stacked in the back and in the aisle. A very nice woman sat next to me, holding a live chicken in her lap! Finally, we got to…

Wow you drove that? we did it on a tour a while ago and loved every minute of it!
Yeah, we did. Scroll back to Posting #1 and catch up and then follow along. I’m projecting there will be more that 100 blog entries about our trip. We also loved (mostly) every minute of the trip. Moments of unpleasantness were usually associated with complicated border crossings which took several hours to accomplish.
Ah we were speared that – yes I will have a look shortly… Cant imagine driving it must have been incredible experience.
