The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails Long Beach RV Resort in Seaview, Washington. My scheduled departure date is July 6th.
Mary is dealing with her over-flowing to-do list plate which can only be handled by herself. The construction of Mary’s rental continues along…slowly. She now is hoping to rejoin me by early September. 😦
While here last year, I visited the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center at Cape Disappointment near Ilwaco Washington. It’s part of the Cape Disappointment State Park which you can read about by clicking this Wikipedia link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Disappointment_State_Park
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
This Google Earth view shows the area from directly above…
The entrance sign…
The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is built atop an old gun battery emplacement of Fort Canby from from World War II…
The overlook in the front of the center. What are these folks looking at?…
This…(180 degree panorama)
To the left is the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse which will be the topic of tomorrow’s Blog posting…
And straight ahead the Pacific Ocean and the jetty. To the very far right you can see a small portion of Waikiki Beach which will be more closely examined soon…
The interpretive center does a very complete job of detailing the Lewis & Clark expedition….but dark and very difficult to photograph. A 16 minute film provides a good overview of their journey. In addition there is a small maritime museum.
Here’s a sea chart of the mouth of the Columbia river…
This glass float came all the way from japan…
The old Fresnel Lens from the Cape Disappointment lighthouse…
I love photographing forms and patterns. This is looking up into the top of the Fresnel Lens…
And finally a very long distance shot of the end of the jetty where I just happened to catch a seagull in flight…
