Moose Lodge #2067 – Atascadero, California

Mary continues to be occupied with personal business. I am now not expecting to see her again until I arrive at her home in Murphys, California about the third week in April. It’s just the way things are and we just have to deal with it.

I’m now in what I’m calling my “pacing mode”. Last October I had cataract surgery at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California. My surgeon wants me back in mid-April for a six-month post-operative eye examination. Palo Alto is only about 185 miles from my current location. So, in the meantime, I’ll “pace” my forward direction travels hoping stay in 65-75 degree temperatures all the while. My appointment is now set for April 21st.

Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 95 miles from Thousand Trails Rancho Oso RV Resort near Santa Barbara to Atascadero, California. A good portion of the drive was on U.S. Highway 101…

I’ve driven U.S. Highway 101 a number of times over the years…but have never stopped here. I ended up parking in a lot across the alley behind the Moose Lodge #2067 building…

This is the view out of the dinette window. The back porch smoking area of the Moose is the building on the left…

This is a view of the lot which the Moose members told me they have owned only about six months. They also told me that I was the first motorhome to stop there…

Nothing was on the activities schedule for yesterday…but they decided to have an impromptu BBQ…

A nice mobile BBQ rig…

The meeting/dining room…

A nice bar area…

Tim, on the left, was the initiator of the impromptu BBQ. The food was outstanding…these guys really know how it’s done…

Everyone enjoyed the BBQ…

Moose Lodge #2607 is above-the-average in friendliness. Pretty near everyone who came in stop to meet me and said hello. I spent an enjoyable four hours in the company of these very friendly folks. Thank you Moose Lodge #2067 for making my stay so enjoyable.

Yesterday was sunny and 74 degrees. Forecast for today is sunny and 75 degrees.

The red dot on the below map shows our approximate location in the State of California. You may double left-click the map to make it larger…

Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
