The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California. Less than 1/2 mile away is the Colorado River and on the other side…the sunniest place on Earth…Yuma, Arizona. I’m here hanging out and enjoying the nice weather. I have several friends in the area. Mary is currently dealing with some medical issues. Her return-to-me date is now looking like mid-February.
I’ve posted several sunset Blog entries during my current four-week visit here. It’s interesting to note that the “clouds” for the most part are not natural. They mainly result from the MANY jet contrails that pass over the area during the day. At 25,000+ feet they get diffused by the high altitude winds and by the end of the day…beautiful sunsets are the results.
I would classify last evening’s sunset as average. The only difference in today’s photos is that I decided to walk to the St. Thomas Indian Mission atop the Old Fort Yuma Hill. Let’s take a look at what I saw…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
The first photo is taken from the motorhome…
With a silhouette of the church…
It took about 10 minutes to make it to the top of the hill, Along the way I looked back to the northeast to catch the sun reflecting from the distant mountains. The motorhome is left-center towards the rear of the parking lot…
From atop the hill the sunset is seen unobstructed by the hill. The distant mountains are in Mexico…
Four looks into the sunset…
Before heading back I took this 180 degree panorama shot…
Back at the motorhome…a final view of the evening sky…
