Armed Forces Park And An Unusual Happening!

The motorhome is now parked at the Paradise Casino in Winterhaven, California. Less than 1/2 mile away is the Colorado River and on the other side…the sunniest place on Earth…Yuma, Arizona. I’m here hanging out and enjoying the nice weather. I have several friends in the area. Mary is currently dealing with some medical issues. Her return-to-me date is now looking like mid-February.

Yesterday’s blog was about Military Appreciation Day in Yuma. Only a short two blocks away is a nice Armed Forces Park.

From the Chamber of Commerce website…

Yuma’s Armed Forces Park is located at the site of the old Yuma railroad depot.

The only park of its type in Arizona, one of the most unique features about the Armed Forces Park is that it has been designed to honor ALL military veterans, living and deceased, no matter which branch of service. To be honored with a plaque, a person needs only to have served in one of the military branches, whether  current or years.

The plaques are made of solid granite. Each is eight inches high and 16 inches wide. Each plaque is individually engraved with the person’s name, rank, dates of service, and includes his or her service emblem. The proceeds from $125 per plaque sales will be used for park construction and future maintenance costs.

I estimate we received 0.33 inches of rain. How can I be so accurate???? Well, the monthly average for this area is 0.33 inches and there is no more rain in the forecast for the rest of the month of January. Simple, huh?  🙂

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PHOTOS.

Yesterday was a cloudy/rainy day at 66 degrees.  Forecast for today is cloudy/sunny and 71 degrees.

Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
