Cataract Surgery Pre-Op Day – Palo Alto, California

The motorhome is currently parked at Mary’s home in Murphys, California. During the next two months I’ll be attending to my cataract surgery, cleaning, routine maintenance and minor repairs to the motorhome and Bronco in addition to assisting Mary with her activities. My current departure date is scheduled for December 1st.

Yesterday Mary drove her Prius the 141 miles from Murphys to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California for my cataract surgery per-operation exam and consultation. On this trip I did not take my regular larger Sony Camera…I opted instead to use our smaller reserve Sony Camera which still takes great photos.

The trip there took 3 hours and 4 minutes. As we crossed the Dumbarton Bridge, we ran into some morning fog…

The VA Hospital in Palo Alto is a big and modern facility. It always saddens me to go to the VA Hospital because I get to see the real heros who are still struggling with the effects of their injuries. I’m truly thankful I made it through my navy service without sustaining any injuries…

With the hundreds/thousands of vets they handle every day…I remain amazed at their efficiency and professionalism. Other than my yearly physicals…this will be the first time I’ve used their facilities. I feel very comfortable about my upcoming cataract surgery…

During my examinations I found out that my right eye is now at 20/200 and my left eye is at 20/80. It’s time to get the surgery done. We will get to the left eye in the next few months. I’m so thankful of modern science for without it I would be facing total blindness within the next few years.

Since I was so busy being examined and consulted I took no other photo there other than of my Doctor Pershing who will be performing my surgery on October 9th…

At 6:15 PM with the sun getting low on the horizon we were traveling north on the Jack Tone Rd and I caught this shadow photo of Mary’s Prius on the passing roadside…

Turning east on Highway 4 the sun is now at our back and I took these few photos of the passenger side mirror…
