Yesterday I drove the motorhome the 233 miles from Bakersfield to Palm Desert, California. It was a very tiring and stressful five-hour drive across the Tehachapi Mountains. Lots of steep and winding up and down grades, lots of traffic, lots of speeding drivers, lots of 18-wheelers and lots of gusty winds.
Leaving Bakersfield at 8 AM, there was a hard frost on the Bronco where the sun had not yet reached…

Near Tehachapi summit there are hundreds of wind generators. This area is famous for strong winds. In 2011, Mary and I saw three 18-wheelers on their sides within a range of one-half mile. You can read about that experience by clicking this link… http://wp.me/pDCku-1hV
Crossing on the narrow roads across the high desert with gusty winds requires strong concentration…
Then the steep decline on Interstate Highway 15/215…
Finally, Interstate Highway 10 is very dangerous. I’ve seen lots of wrecks on this roadway in past years…
I finally arrived at Thousand Trails RV Resort about 20 miles east of Palm Springs…
The usual dinette window view photo…
Here’s a Google Earth view of the 397 site park with my location marked by the X…
It has 805 tall date trees and is set on 25 acres. You can read about this place by clicking this link… https://www.thousandtrails.com/getaways/california/palmsprings.asp
I’m planning to depart from here on December 18th.
Yesterday was a sunny day at 62 degrees. Forecast for today is partly sunny/cloudy and 65 degrees.
The red dot on the below map shows our approximate location in the State of California. You may double left-click the map to make it larger…
Enjoying 65-75 degree temperatures with low humidity most of the year is a primary joy in the RVing lifestyle!
