When I blogged the other day about Blue States and Red States, and secession from the Union, I took it all as a joke. Not until my friend Claudine told me the petition papers were signed by the Governor of Texas, and the signers were over 25,000 needed to get on a ballot, did I realize it was a serious endeavor. I am ever astounded by the lunatic fringe we have in this country. But, even worse, how does this lunatic fringe get elected? Is it Faux Radio as many progressives suggest?

President Obama is using a Cold War-era mind-control technique known as “Delphi” to coerce Americans into accepting his plan for a United Nations-run communist dictatorship in which suburbanites will be forcibly relocated to cities. That’s according to a four-hour briefing delivered to Republican state senators at the Georgia state Capitol last month.
Agenda 21 is a nefarious plot that includes forcibly relocating non-urban-dwellers and prescribing mandatory contraception as a means of curbing population growth. The invitation to the Georgia state Senate event noted the presentation would explain: “How pleasant sounding names are fostering a Socialist plan to change the way we live, eat, learn, and communicate to ‘save the earth.'”

In Genesis, God clearly told Adam and Eve, and then Noah and his family to go forth and multiply to fill the earth. Nowhere in the Bible does God rescind that clearly spoken commandment.

Good Grief, I’m a progressive. I don’t like everything Obama has done and will do. But, the above is only scary to think people believe such stuff. I actually find realistically scary the fact that the Patreaus/Broadwell investigation allows the government too much access to the internet and our private lives.

But the warrant does not allow them to barge into the house next door.
But what are the comparable boundaries online? Does a warrant to search an e-mail account expose the communications of anyone who exchanged messages with the target?
I can see problems headed our way. How easy it is to accuse the innocent as has happened too many times in the most recent past. Shades of the snooping J.Edgar Hoover and the Communist black lists of McCarthyism. (Shudder.)

My goodness… it’s hard to fathom such a deep and misguided paranoia… and public figures who publicly buy into the misinformation!
In Australia we have our fair share of radio “shock jocks” who make outrageous claims and are deeply offensive, but I don’t think any go to such lengths. The only person I can think of on par is Clive Palmer, a billionaire with a taste for the media spotlight… and he was recently chucked out of his (right wing /conservative) party for going too far!
It’s kind of sad really… and like you said, genuine concerns like the uncharted waters of online rights are somehow ignored!

This is the first I’ve heard of Agenda 21. But, we’ve met some vocal religionists, who want to visit their morals on the rest of us. And, some very strong advocates of everything white and Christian with no room for alternative opinions. Christian now means, it seems to me, the right to spew hatred and declare everyone a super patriot only if they are of the exact same belief as they are. But, brief encounters on the road are hello goodbye. Right now I’m confined to home and I didn’t realize how much hate and divisiveness is in this country.I guess that is why I’m shocked. I’ve been on the road for going on four years and I’ve let the world slip by without really listening to how much it has changed. I know your Prime Minister, is that her title? Has just reiterated that Muslims should learn the language, assimilate, and accept the country they inhabit or leave if they don’t like it. I can actually understand that. That doesn’t come across to me as hate!

The older I get the more amazed I am at the willful ignorance of our species.
On the one hand we have people intelligent enough to create amazing art and technology that I can’t even begin to figure out and on the other we have lunatics like those referred to in your Agenda 21 comment.
I suppose it has always been this way and the only reason it seems worse is our ability to communicate any idea no matter how stupid instantly around the world.
A book about the so called “Black Death” is a case in point. The book is The Great Mortality by John Kelly. This focuses on the history of this pandemic in the 1300s although it has occurred both before and after. One interesting bit of information is that due to man’s superstitious nature Jews were blamed and many thousand or thousands killed throughout Europe and I believe the Middle East but not sure I am recalling that correctly or not.
Rumors spread that they poisoned water wells. When they were tortured using Inquisition techniques many confessed. Men, women and children were burned at the stake or gathered together in buildings which were then set on fire or murdered in some other fashion.
That stupidity is not too far removed from evangelicals of today.
Of course, education is not a protection against this kind of ignorance. A friend forwarded an email from someone he knows. That person identifies himself as a naval officer and an MBA. The email starts off his rant about Obama being a Marxist and then the usual drivel that follows.
The problem today is that we have more than enough miscreants who are happy to supply totally false information to the population well knowing that no one will take the time to independently determine if that information is true or not. If this weren’t the case how could all of these idiotic emails circulate as well as they do from one believer to the next.
As someone said to me “just because you believe it doesn’t mean its true”.
