West Point Military Academy, Highland Falls, New York

Jim says:

Yesterday Mary and I took the Bronco about 12 miles south from our parking place at American Legion Post #1796 at New Windsor, New York to visit the West Point Military Academy.

It’s located on a high point of land on the west bank of the Hudson River about 50 miles north of New York City. It’s been at this location since 1802. Its role is to produce officers for the U.S. Army. Some of its more notable graduates are Generals Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patton, Lee, Grant and Custer. We spent about five hours there. First was a visit to the Visitors Center, then a two-hour bus tour (the only way civilians can see the grounds) and finally the museum. Another enjoyable day in the life of a full-time RVer.

Today we continue our westward journey towards our next planned stop to visit friends of mine at Grosse Isle, Michigan. We expect to arrive there this coming Friday.

During the bus tour yesterday, I was once again stung by two bees on my lower left leg. My calf is hard, swollen and hot. I had a miserable night’s sleep. What a pain in the leg!
