Silver City, New Mexico

December 8, 2013

The motorhome is parked at Thousand Trails RV Resort in Palm Desert. California, of which we are members. I’m planning to depart from here on December 18th. Mary will fly in to join me in Yuma, Arizona in early January.

I left Mary’s home last Monday when it was 62 degrees. When I spoke to her yesterday morning she had eight inches of snow! As I write this morning, it is 16 degrees there! Sure happy I’m not there right now.

A couple of days ago I took a walk around the resort and took a few photos. Here is one of them…

My purposes in leaving early was to escape the much colder weather in Murphys, California. In addition, I have lots of friends in the Yuma area plus I’ll cross into Mexico to visit my dentist for my annual visit, refurbish the freon in the Bronco’s air conditioning system and get new prescription eyeglasses.

Yesterday was a mostly cloudy day at 62 degrees.  Forecast for today is partly sunny and 58 degrees.

A more relaxed mode…

After our 682 day on-the-go 2011-2013 circumnavigation of the United States, we have decided to slip into a more relaxed mode. In the next few months we will be traveling through areas previously explored. Unless I do something unusual, this Blog will feature a photo album from the circumnavigation and will change daily.

Yesterday I departed Silver City, New Mexico after a nice 13 day visit. Okay…I could have done nicely without having to rebuild my 1986 Ford Bronco II transmission. But…if you have to breakdown…Silver City is a good place to do it. Thank you again Moose Lodge #1718 for your hospitality.

Historic downtown Silver City. New Mexico is very clean and has lots of nice old buildings including the Silver City Museum detailing the Big Ditch.

I was so busy while there…I didn’t have a chance to show you some photos of the historic downtown area. So here they are…
