Ivoryton, Connecticut – Day 12
June 19, 2013
The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
Two days ago, I showed photos of the downtown Village of Ivoryton, Connecticut…the only place so named in the entire world according to this Wikipedia link…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivoryton
Right in the center of the village is the historic Ivoryton Playhouse. The first photo below shows the Playhouse as at was years ago on a historical sign nearby…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
This is the Ivoryton Playhouse as it appears today…

When Mary and I were here in 2010, we saw the Buddy Holly Story. You can read a review of that performance by clicking this link…

On the front lawn, someone has done a fine job of carving on an old tree…
Speaking of trees, here’s a nearby one…

On October 27, 2012, I created a two-minute video titled America The Beautiful. The music America The Beautiful is by Christopher W. French. The photos, which I randomly selected, are from the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia (not shown in that order)…are mine. Yup, That’s me standing in front of the Post Office in Luckenbach, Texas…Y’all!

Ivoryton, Connecticut – Day 11
June 18, 2013
The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
Yesterday I showed photos of the downtown Village of Ivoryton, Connecticut…the only place so named in the entire world according to this Wikipedia link…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivoryton
Ivoryton takes its name from the ivory industry that imported tusks. In the beginning combs, buttons, toothpicks, billiard balls, and other items were made here. Later they moved toward piano keys and eventually also made piano movement. There were two factories…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
This was the first factory as it appears today…
This is the second factory as it looks today…
I found this photo of how the second factory once was in a visitors guide magazine…

June 17, 2013
The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
Yesterday morning my family and I went to the Essex Veterans Memorial Hall for Father’s Day breakfast. A nice time. They gave me cards with a $50 Barnes and Noble Gift Card enclosed. Thank you, family.
Ivoryton is a pleasant little village. According to the below Wikipedia link…There is not a single town, city, or place named Ivoryton anywhere else in the world.
Today some photos of downtown…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
In forthcoming days…I’ll provide photos of other specific locations in Ivoryton.

Ivoryton, Connecticut – Day 9
June 16, 2013
The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th visiting with my family.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
Yesterday my only grandson Eric, stopped by to visit. He will be 16 on August 11. He is an avid baseball player and aspires to be a catcher in the major leagues of baseball.
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
In these photos he is showing me his $400 professional-model catchers mitt. He has a very generous mom and dad. He’s very serious about his baseball, hence no smile…
He puts a baseball into the mitt and then wraps it tightly with a belt to help the mitt keep the proper shape…
He stores the mitt in his 2015 high school year graduation bag…
On this particular day I gave him a ride to the baseball field where he was to umpire a little league play-off game. He’s been umpiring for the last three years. He’s a sophomore in high school and at 5’11″, he’s the tallest person in the family…
Way to go, Eric!

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
Yesterday evening I attended my youngest grand-daughter’s softball game. She’s 12 years old and plays Shortstop for the Essex Angels.
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
My son and I sat along the right field line to watch the action…
In the below “action photos” you will notice Jaime wears a face protector since her field position is considered a “hot spot”. She plays the game with an intensity she got from her dad…
The Essex Angels won the game and next Monday evening play for the league championship. Way to go, Jaime!

The motorhome is parked at my son’s home where I’m expected to remain until July 17th.
Mary has finally returned to her home in California. She has a tentative return-to-me-date of July 16th.
For the short while I’ve been here, I’ve seen not a whole lot of my family as they are all so busy with their lives. Oh well, I’ll catch them as I can.
About six weeks back, I found myself in a very tight American Legion parking lot. Rather than unhook the Bronco I proceeded to make a very tight right-hand turn and here’s the result…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view…
As it turns out I haven’t ridden my bicycle since before our accident of may 27, 2012. Because of the accident, I no longer feel like trying to ride a bicycle so I had already decided to sell it this Summer. Guess I’ll have to ask a little less for it.
My son has indicated an interest in it, although I don’t know when he’ll find time to ride it because he’s so busy. Once he commits he wants it, I’ll get a new wheel for it. If he decides he doesn’t want it, it will get sold on Graig’s List at a reduced price.

Mary has been in Las Vegas, Nevada for her grandson’s high school graduation for the last several days. She returned to her home in Murphys, California yesterday.
For the short while I’ve been here, I’ve seen not a whole lot of my family as they are all so busy with their lives. Oh well, I’ll catch them as I can.
If you are a regular follower of my Blog, you’ll remember a few months back I became a life member on the Veterans Of Foreign Wars…aka VFW. I’ve found the guys like to wear hats identifying where they served…so I thought I would follow suit…

The Great Adventure Dinette Window Photos…Update #2…
June 11, 2013
Back on November 29, 2011, I began what is my 6th circumnavigation of the United States. It will be Mary’s 2nd.
I’m calling it The Great Adventure, because it’s different from my other five circumnavigations…in which the routes were kinda-sorta preplanned. This time…with the exceptions of attending my oldest grand-daughter’s high school graduation in June 2013 in southeastern Connecticut…I don’t know where were will be going or when we will be there! Hence…The Great Adventure.
The only plan is to live a day-to-day lifestyle and let the wind blow us where it may!
Another thing different about this circumnavigation…in addition to our daily Blog entries documenting our experiences…is in every overnight parking spot I’ve decided to take a photo out of our dinette window.
For instance here’s the view out of our dinette window at our parking location at the Dancing Eagle Casino RV Park, Casa Blanca, New Mexico…
As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view...
During the course of this two-year circumnavigation I’m expecting that we will park overnight in about 150 locations. In addition you need to know that when I park the motorhome…I do not say to myself…where’s the best view? It is strictly by chance what view ends up outside of our window.
You need also to remember that we overnight a lot at free locations such as Eagles and Moose Clubs, American Legion, VFW and Elks Clubs where the views are not always spectacular…but usually somewhat interesting.
Finally I started taking these photos once we departed Yuma, Arizona. Prior to that time all the previous overnight parking locations are repeats from previous times since I travel those routes somewhat regularly.
Unfortunately this Picasa Web Album has decided to partially malfunction. It has “lost” a few and has them somewhat out of the chronological order in which they were taken. That being said, they still can be enjoyed.
I’ve got 92 out-of-the-dinette-window photos collected so far. You can see them all by clicking the below link. Once there, click the slide show button…
https://picasaweb.google.com/110455945462646142273/GreatAdventureDinetteWindowPhotos#
After viewing the 92 photos I think you’ll agree that the full-time RVing lifestyle exemplifies the saying of “Variety Is The Spice Of Life”! The constant changing of scenery, people, local foods and music is most stimulating. I never tire of it!
I intend to post this Blog entry periodically as The Great Adventure rolls along..
It will be fun to look at the about 150 photos that will finally end up in this collection when the circumnavigation has been completed!
