Trinity Site…In The Middle Of Nowhere, New Mexico…

April 7, 2012

On July 16, 1945…about 60 miles northeast of my current location in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico the first atomic test blast occurred at a location called Trinity Site. This is an actual photo of the blast 15 seconds after detonation as shown in the below Wikipedia informational link…

As always you may left click upon an image to see an enlarged view and then click once again to see an even larger view...

Through the magic of Google Earth…this is what Ground Zero looks like today…

This Google Earth image shows the relative location to the Trinity Site and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico…

The Trinity Site is open to the public only twice a year…the first Saturday of April and October. Five years ago today…on the first Saturday of April, 2007…I got to visit the Trinity Site. To see the 32 photos I took while there…click this link…

Trinity Site was a strangely emotional place to visit. It had such an impact on the World as we know it today. I’m glad I had a chance to see this most unusual place in person. It’s another joy of the full-time RVing lifestyle…visiting unusual places.
