We’ve got solar power!
December 16, 2009
One of the primary reasons for this stop at Slab City was to have a solar panel and inverter installed in our new motorhome. Solar Mike installed the solar panels on my old motorhome more than ten years ago.

I had the solar panel installed by a company called The Sun Woks. Owned by “Solar Mike” Kohl. He’s been at Slab City for more than 20 years and specializes in RV installations.

Wayne begins the installation of the inverter (converts 12 volts into 110 volts) under the dinette seat.

While Christopher installs the solar panel on the roof.

The final inverter, and associated components, installation. The inverter is the big yellow box.

I thought you might like to see Solar Mike’s three-wheel solar buggy.
We now get our electricity fron the sun! With the solar panel and the heavy-duty 1750 watt inverter, we can power all of our electrical needs with the exception of the air-conditioner without being plugged into an electrical outlet or a generator.
